Hawes
Where to stay? What to do?
Hawes is a small town of narrow streets with places to eat and drink, hotels, bed and breakfasts and interesting shops. The Dales Countryside Museum, located in the former Station Yard, is devoted to farming, knitting, lead mining and other industries from the past and features a history of the Dales railway. A visit to the Wensleydale Creamery is a unique experience and because of the success of ‘Wallace and Gromit’ the creamery is a very popular. Tthe Ropemakers at Town Foot will show you how skipping ropes, washing lines and church bell ropes are traditionally made. Located in the heart of Wensleydale on the A684 between Sedburgh and Leyburn, it is the ideal location for exploring the northern part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
